This week, I wanted to show you a glimpse inside my world. As the creator and owner of Make Me Up Pretty, I am always posting things from my professional life – weddings to fashion shoots and everything in between. However, I wanted to give you a look inside my home to show you how Make Me Up Pretty is more than just a full-time job for me – it’s a lifestyle.
Sophisticated, fresh and fun – these are the three traits that are most prominent in my home. I am from Moldova, and I came to this country alone. For my home, I wanted to create a space where I could find solace, joy and comfort in this crazy city of Philadelphia, my second home.
I turned my stark white vintage high-rise apartment into a sophisticated femme paradise by following a few simple steps. I added huge pops of color to each of the rooms: my vintage green velvet couch, flowering potted plants, and graphic prints of colorful fashion sketches. I complimented these bright accents with soft, beautiful details: always a vase of fresh roses, a vintage vanity refurbished and distressed in creme, a Victorian mirror, small chandeliers glittering from above. And, of course, no space of mine would be complete without some fabulously comfy throw pillows and my fashion and beauty library on display.
Al of these details work so well together because they each represent some aspect of my personality. My white washed apartment came to life only when I decided to inject my unique flair into every single detail. The time I spent studying in Paris, which has shaped my career in so many ways, gets a little shout-out on my bookshelf, where I keep the biographies of Karl Lagerfeld and Coco Chanel. My fun and flirty approach to wardrobe is reflected in my decor by pairing a shaggy, faux fur-covered pillow with my sophisticated velvet sofa. By taking the many aspects of my personality and translating them into my decor, I was able to make my apartment fiercely me. I take this true-to-myself approach to everything in my life – be it makeup, hair, wardrobe, music – to create one cohesive message proclaiming my personal style!
That is the Make Me Up Pretty lifestyle.
